Letter to disciples No. 270: EUROPEAN SKY – Part 7: Goodbye Latvia, see you again. (Tạm biệt Latvia, hẹn ngày gặp lại)

Letter to disciples No. 270: EUROPEAN SKY – Part 7: Goodbye Latvia, see you again.

Dear disciples,

I am not going to be here but one more day, then I will leave for Vietnam. The two words Vietnam is not merely the combination of letter a, b, c…so on in the alphabet; but Vietnam reminds me of the debt of gratitude to be paid to the country or the ruler which is one among the four debts of gratitude. The Buddha taught his follower to bear in mind the four debts of gratitude to be paid, including the debt of gratitude to be paid to the Guru, the debt of gratitude to be paid to the country where one was born, the debt of gratitude to be paid to one’s father and mother, the debt of gratitude to be paid to all sentient beings. Song Nguyen Tantra House sets sail of Dharma to the ocean; we should fully realize that we repay the four debts of gratitude well. Because this impressed upon me the importance of the four debts of gratitude, I feel so close to and trust EuroViet when we contacted this company. According to the causative influences in Buddhism, it is sure that the leaders in EuroViet once were Vietnamese in their past lives, though they are Latvian at present. The reason for that is that if we did not connect together in the past, how can we meet together at present? it’s no coincidence that the Chinese believed that if there’s fate, you are destined to meet each other even thousand miles apart. If fate is not supposed to be, you won’t be able to be acquainted happily even when facing each other.

I remembered that on Monday, when I went to the head office of EuroViet, the leaders of this cooperation, Arturs Boss and Kristaps Strelis, warmly welcomed  me.

They warmly welcome me

At the first sight, I said some social greetings to them in both Russian and English; then Ms. Chi, our interpreter, helped us discuss some main points in the working meeting. Both two high-ranking managers in EuroViet were dedicated, thoughtful and have clear viewpoint in discussion. They both can speak fluently three languages (English, Russian and German). It is common that people in Riga speak fluently Russian and English. I and Mr. Vu have experienced this when having conversation with them when we were in a market in Riga. I expressed the joy for the rapid development of EuroViet in recent 3 years. They also wished to meet me gain in their country. The meeting was intimate and harmonious, so everyone felt happy. They invited me to have dinner with them at a German restaurant on Wednesday night.

I and they

Dear disciples,

The four people

Last night, right at 18:30 pm, Mr.Vu drove me to a German restaurant. The outside looked nothing special, but when we entered inside, a foreign visitor like me was surprised by its busy atmosphere. When we put the first step inside, there was a waitress coming to hold our jacket. The inside was highlighted by the lights hung on everywhere which lit up the dining space; made it formal and warm. I felt sorry because I could not eat anything, even a small piece because I had had a big meal in the afternoon in a sea city. I realized that Arturs was so subtle to dress up with a blue shirt made of tussore which was bought in Vietnam in this party. Everyone had a pleasant talk. I felt sorry that Ms. Chi, our interpreter, was ill; so I could not express my poetic and beautiful thoughts during conversation. Although I could eat nothing, enjoying only coffee and tea during the dinner was seen as my acceptance of their invitation for dinner. The coffee and tea in this restaurant was considered to be good; but they are far less tasty as compared to Vietnamese coffee and tea. I did not know if the food here was good or bad, but the bill itself told that it was a luxurious restaurant. In a conversation, I learnt that they would host a seminar in Ho Chi Minh city, then I invited them to come to Song Nguyen Tantra House for sightseeing and to have meal with us. At this time in Vietnam, I have learnt that Mat Dieu’s relatives from the USA also came to visit Song Nguyen Tantra House. I believed that they will feel pleased and happy; then change their view on Song Nguyen Tantra House after visiting. Now I and my consort prove for them that the miracle in Buddhism really happens for the true Buddhists when they practice dharma right. Only one who does not have enough conditions to practice dharma cannot experience this miracle.

I only drink tea

I am giving Arturs a gift

Dear disciples,

I am giving Ktistaps a gift

The dinner ended in the happiness of the two parties.  I came back to the hotel. It was late and cold. But I could feel warmed in my heart by the kindness of humanity in this foreign country. Whoever they are, foreigners as Kristaps and Aturs or Vietnamese as Mr. Vu and M.s Chi, they were all dedicated with their work and happy to answer every question we asked. I also found out that the relationships between Latvian employers and Vietnamese employees in EuroViet are easeful, fair and harmonious. The relationship with workmates in Korean company or in Japanese one is quite different from EuroViet. The head bowing at 30-45 degree tilting in the tradition of Korean and Japanese is never seen in European or in Americas. Recently, a newspaper posted an article about the harmful culture of working to death – the silent killer in Korea.

I am giving Mr. Vũ a gift

The problem here lies on the fact that the employees have suffered the misery and stress in working for a long time, but they keep silent and do not dare to complain because they are fearful of being jobless. Then they have to bear the grievous consequences. Reading this sad information in Korea, I feel so happy for Mr. Vu and Ms. Chi.

It is due to have a good condition to work in EuroViet, Mr. Vu and Ms. Chi both are doing their utmost in work. Take Mr. Vu as an example, he took time to drive me to Riga central market for visiting. I should say that it is a neat, clean and big market. There are various kinds of products selling here. When going to this market, the housewives can buy everything they need for a good and nutritious meal, including food,  fruits,  vegetables,  frozen products or cold ham and bacons. The price here is reasonable. I have not experienced buying something in the markets in many countries in the EU. But it seems to be one and a  half times cheaper than the price in France. I took some photos for you to see how the Riga central market is.

The way to the sea

After visiting the market, Mr. Vu also invited me to go to the sea city, far about 30 km from Riga. The roads in this city are small and narrow. But this is the famous tourist area in European. Vu said that there always happens the traffic jam in this city in summer because of the large amount of visitors. Taking view at the sea, there was just one big ocean everywhere. The big ocean is as open as ones in our country. But their beach is less beautiful than ours and the seawater in our country is nicer. That is the reason why the beaches in Vung Tau, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc are always overcrowded with foreign visitors.

The restaurant next to the sea

Dear disciples,

The inside of the restaurant

Tomorrow I will come back our country, I should say goodbye to Latvia, a beautiful country in my eye, an ideal place for vacations and spiritual tourism but this potential place has not been exploited fully for the benefit of all beings. It looks like a “heavenly” realm realized by those who accidentally step into. I did stepped into “heaven” like two guys Liu Chen and Ruan Zhao. I did not get lost like them, I enjoyed the heavenly beauty here but I keep a firm step of Bodhicitta to face the difficulties ahead so that everywhere will become the good spiritual environment for the practice of Pure Mind Yoga. The plane will disappear in the heavy clouds, but the beautiful image of Latvia has been kept forever in my mind in this survey trip. I would like to thank Mr. Vu, Ms. Chi and especially Kristaps and  Arturs, the Latvians who have given me a great favor with their nice encouragement as well as sincere concerns. Due to the different customs and culture; and my poor English and Russian, If I do something wrong in conversation, I hope the directors and the staff in EuroViet understand and sympathize. EuroViet will be always in my heart because it is not only the successful cooperation, but also it brings the beloved word Viet within. May all sentient beings achieve the happiness of Buddha’s nature.

  5. Bishnu Prasad Das says:
    Respected Guruji,

I feel happy to go through your letter. Beautiful writing with lovely experience about Latvia, a beautiful europeaE country. The way you explained and comparison with your mother land Vietnam is really nice. Test of coffee of Vietnam is really best….it is my experience during my visit to Saigon.

Riga daily market and sea beach is good and you have enjoyed with a nice comparison with Vietnam. The restaurant you visit is excellent.

Guruji, we can see different culture and nature of people are different from ours.

When we work together by the help of dharma we become one….as we have to follow one path….our nationality….our language….our culture…our mind will be same to learn about Buddha.

Mr.Vu and Ms. Chi both are very good people and thy host you like supreme Guru. I feel proud of you and your way of teaching about Buddha Dharm.

    With regards,

  6. Tantra Kasila(Vivek S) says:
    Dear holy Guru

It is really a thought provoking journey that you are making. It is really surprising that people die for a job forgetting how to live.As years go by only towards the end of our life we would realise that we have not been living.Hardest thing is regression.Best thing is to live each and every moment to its fullest.

May the Guru live long and all the sentinel beings have the peacefulness and calmness achieved by Buddha.

  7. Aman Prakash says:
